Sims 4 city living is the 3rd expansion pack for the Sims 4 series. It came out in November 1st, but I waited until Origin had the Black Friday sale to buy it. If you have bought any Sims 4 expansion packs you would know they usually run for 39.99 dollars. With a origin’s Black Friday, I was able to get this expansion pack for 29.99. The main reason I waited to get this game is because EA has been constantly disappointing us with the Sims 4 expansion packs, and again they proved me right by releasing a mediocre expansion pack.
EA refuses to listen us players even though we are the ones buying their game. They refuse to bring toddlers. I mean what sense does it make when a baby goes straight to childhood? One of the reasons I LOVED the Sims 3 is because of the family aspect of the game. I loved how it allowed the parents to teach their kids to talk, walk, and use the bathroom. Now it’s just the baby goes from not knowing these things 2 hours ago to knowing them when they age up? Where is the realistic aspect of the game? But that’s not even the reason why I dislike this expansion pack.
Sims 4 city living
The expansion pack brings in the new city of San Myshuno. San Myshuno is filled with a couple of buildings, and different neighborhood. Some of the districts include the arts district, and the fashion district. There are two others as well: the spice district and the uptown neighborhood which is basically where the penthouses are. The expansion pack also brings in a new skill singing. You can rent these apartments for a fairly cheap price, but beware the cheap apartments do tend to have some bad lot traits, but It makes for an interesting let’s play.
As for CAS items, I really enjoyed these and It has to be one of the few things I like about this expansion pack. There are some cultural items which i really like, and overall I liked the variety of clothes they had. There is also the new vegetarian trait as well as a new aspiration.
As far careers go this expansion adds the political career with two branches a politician and a charity organizer. You can protest and rally for you cause. They give a couple of options for a cause you can stand far. The next career is being a critic again with this option there are two branches being a food or an art critic. The last option is social media. This job focuses on live streaming and getting followers. None of these careers are playable like the ones in the “Get to work” expansion pack, but you do have an option to work from home or go to work. When you choose to work from home you have the ability to do tasks around the city.
Another thing this expansion pack brings is the ability for you to add traits to the lots. There are a bunch of interesting traits. Example of those traits are: Good schools, needs TLC, and gremlin. These traits aren’t just for San Myshuno, you can add them to the other worlds as well.
The last thing I want to discuss about is the festivals. The festivals are a great addition to the diversity of the city. There are different types of festivals such as the spice festival and the romance festival.
- I like that the expansion pack adds diversity
- The different festivals are fun.
- New careers is also interesting. The idea of holding a protest also seems fun.
- I like the new vegetarian trait.
- Lot traits also make your home lot very interesting.
- I like the realistic aspect of your neighbors being too loud.
- New outfits are very interesting, and I enjoyed dressing my sims.
- I like the idea of city living
- There are cars in the game now, but we can’t drive them. We can’t even buy one.
- We still have the loading screen. I must say the loading screen seems to be faster though, so I can’t complain too much about this.
- The expansion has few gameplay features. Mostly it’s about the buildings, there is nothing that will enhance your gameplay
- Little to no new interactions.
- Festivals seem weird. Once the timer ends the festival magically disappears.
- No toddlers.
I personally don’t think the sims 4 can be saved. The only expansion pack I was happy with was Get to work. Get together just like city living was a waste of money. City living just adds a couple of livable lots, 3 festivals, 3 jobs, and some clothes. I don’t think that’s worth 40 dollars. I also hate the fact that it has been more than 2 years now and they only released 3 expansion packs. They need to stop wasting their time on game packs, and worry about the expansion packs. Maybe instead of releasing game packs they can combine them and make an expansion pack. Like why not combine outdoor living with spa? Or combine dine out with the kitchen stuff pack? In the next expansion pack I would like to see some game play instead of unnecessary stuff. I was bored with this expansion pack in two days. Overall I would suggest getting this expansion pack just for the clothes and lot traits other than that it’s a waste of money.
