Relaunching The Talk With Moi by giving my blog a “makeover” has been the best decision I have made since I started blogging. I talked about my blogging journey on the about page, but I just want to give you a bit of an overview on how The Talk With Moi started.
I started The Talk With Moi last year, and I was fairly happy with it until April of this year. It felt like I lost the fire, and blogging seemed like a chore I had to do. I dreaded having to blog. To solve this issue, I decided to cut back from blogging every day to blogging three times a week.
Why I think I lost the fire?
The reason why I think I lost the fire is, because I was in a blogging group which included 4 other girls. At first everyone posted on their day, and blogs were going up every day. I started relying on them, and I really enjoyed being part of a team, but It slowly started to fall apart. They started blogging less and less, and It seemed like I was blogging fairly everyday. It started getting stressful having to blog everyday, so I started to cut back. I didn’t want to even look at my blog. From April to November, I posted roughly about 20-25 blogs. My blog view went from being 1800-2000 to barley 500 a month. I was feeling like complete failure, and I just couldn’t handle it. I refused to quit though, so I just started posting a lot of mediocre content that I wasn’t proud of until two weeks ago where I said ENOUGH! I was starting my blog over. I must relaunch The Talk With Moi.
Relaunching The Talk With Moi
The first step was getting a new blog host. My subscription with Weebly was coming to an end, so I decided to self host my blog using Host Gator and WordPress.org. I also searched for a theme that was minimalistic. That was the look I was going for. My previous blog theme was a bit cluttered for my taste, so I made sure this one had only the necessary things. Also this time I promised to not add random pages. That was one of the reasons why I deleted the forum option from my blog. The forum wasn’t something that matched my blogging ideas. Of course, I still want a place for my readers to interact with each other, but for right now the comment section should be enough. Also this time I wouldn’t be part of a blogging group. I would be the only admin for my blog.I’m still keeping the Guest blogger option open as I really love the variety it adds to my blog. If you followed my previous blog, you would also know I had a YouTube page dedicated to my videos. I’m keeping the feature on this version as well since I want to make it easier for people to watch my videos.
I want to explain the Guest Blogger option a little bit. In order to have your posts appear on this site, you must log in using your wordpress account. It can be a wordpress.org or WordPress.com account. If you don’t have either, you can send me your submissions using any of the social media sites or by emailing me.
Overall this time I feel a lot more prepared on what I want my blog to look like. I’m not going to constantly change my theme and add and delete pages. I’m also a lot more prepared to work hard for my blog.
From now on blog posts will go up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Blog posts can vary day to day, but I’ll definitely post Top10s and Challenges. So far I have only done two reviews in my blogging “career”, but I’ll definitely make sure to do more.
I hope you’all are as excited as I am for the relaunch of my blog. Feel free to recommend blog post ideas as well submit your own post.
