Blog buttons are somewhat important very important. You can use them to showcase other blog buddies and your blog buddies can showcase your blog. When I started blogging I had no idea, how to make a blog button. I searched around the internet (because that’s what we do now) and I couldn’t find helpful videos, so I decided to make my own.
In order to create a blog button, I used 3 sites. Maybe there is a simpler way to do it, but this is the way I created mine. The sites I used where Picmonkey, Photobucket, and Grab my button generator. Now you can substitute Picmonkey with Canva, Pixlr, or any editing program. You can also substitute Photobucket with any website that allows you to upload a pic and get the URL. I found two Grab my button generators, but the one I used was the easier one. Using a generator is much easier that writing the code yourself.
How to create a blog button?
The first thing you need to do is use Picmonkey or the editing app you are using to create your design. Make the design something that represents your blog. So, if you do book reviews have a book, if you do makeup have something that represents makeup. I think this step can be the most fun, or if you hate designing like me it might suck. You can choose the sizing. You can make it small or medium. Don’t make it too big.
The next step is to go to Photobucket and upload your picture there. Once you upload the picture when you click on it you should see info about the picture. One of them is the URL. Copy that.
Now you can go to Grab my button generator. You just need to fill out the form. It’s super simple, but I will go ahead and explain it. The first box is where you put your blog name. In the second box, you put in your blog’s URL, and in the third box you put in your picture’s URL. (you copied this from Photobucket.) The next option asks you to choose between textarea or pre. If you use WordPress.com use pre. If you use WordPress.Org or Blogger use textarea. If you use Wix or another host, I suggest clicking “help me find out”. The website will tell you which one to use. The next couple of options are just so you can customize the button, you can choose whatever you want. Now just click preview and see if you like how it looks, don’t not grab the preview code.
Now you are done! You have a blog button. Just put it in your code section if you have WordPress, and if you have Weebly grab the code button.
Here is a video on how to do it.
